I scream, you scream... we all scream for ice cream! The first Fosters Freeze opened in Inglewood, California in 1946. The restaurant offered burgers, fries, and shakes but its soft serve ice cream became its signature treat. By 1950, there were over 360 Foster Freeze locations. The bright blue building on the outskirts of Japantown was one of them. The original building permit dates to May 1949.
