Alice Hare was an early Santa Clara Valley photographer. Born in 1859, she arrived in California in 1895. A commercial photographer of nature, agriculture, historic sites and building interiors, Mrs. Hare’s photographs were published in many books, albums, and magazines. This folio consists of 12 black and white images of local scenes including the Lick Observatory and the Naglee Mansion, 1895 to 1912.
