Members-Only Fire Museum Tour

PAC*SJ is pleased to invite current members to a special members-only tour of the San Jose Fire Museum in downtown San Jose. Museum Board of Director President John McMillan and Vice President Jim Carter, both retired firefighters, will be our guides on a tour that features more than 30 vintage and antique artifacts such as hose carts, hand pumpers, hook & ladders, fire engine pumpers and steamers, written documents, badges, helmets and more—the majority being specific to the City of San Jose Fire Department and its great history.

The Fire Museum building originally served as the San Jose Fire Station One beginning in 1951 and remained active until 2000. The museum owns one of the largest collections of historic firefighting vehicles, apparatus, and artifacts in the United States. The building is an excellent example of International architectural style with Art Moderne accents, is designated a San Jose City Landmark, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Fire Museum received a 2024 Preservation Award in May for “Outstanding Building Restoration” for preserving and transforming the former San Jose Fire Station One into the San Jose Fire Museum.
